ROADSIDE REVEGETATION—An Integrated Approach to Establishing Native Plants

CTIP

Planning

Desired Future Conditions (DFC)

Example 1

  • Revegetation Objective: Minimize sediment entry to perennial & intermittent streams
  • Desired Future Condition: At end of first year, less than 20% of soil will be exposed on road cuts within 300 feet of Hat Creek and Sailors Draw and at the end of 3 years, native vegetative cover will account for 65% of surface cover.

Example 2

  • Revegetation Objective: MSE walls will be screened from river travelers.
  • Desired Future Condition: As viewed from the far bank of river, 40% of MSE walls will be screened by native grasses. By end of third year, 90% of MSE screened by native grasses, 10% of wall screened by native shrubs and trees.
