Mulches Made a Difference on This Site

"We had enough time to evaluate a different type of mulch. Instead of hydromulch, which didn't appear to provide enough protection for the seed and emerging seedling, we tried a deeper mulch from ground right-of-way woody material. We learned from this trial that seeds would germinate even when the weather was very dry and soils took longer to dry out, meaning that newly emerging seedlings would have a better chance of becoming established."
