What are Locally Adapted Plants?

Plants of the same species can take on different appearances and attributes depending on the site where they have evolved. The grasses shown in these two seed production fields look very different but are actually the same species—mountain brome. The seeds that started each field came from separate collection areas in Washington. The reason the plants look different is because they evolved to match the environment at each locations.
