Case Study Narrative
One Year Later
"We installed the hydromulching trial in the fall and the following spring we came back out to take measurements on the number of seeds that had germinated and how much of the soil surface the vegetation was covering on each plot. What we learned was that there was no seed germination on any of the plots. In other words, no matter how much hydromulch we put on the site (and 3,000 pounds per acre is a lot of hydromulch!), it didn't matter. We learned that hydromulch was not the appropriate mitigation measure for this site. From this study we decided that we needed to evaluate a different type of mulch, one that was more effective in drier climates and at much higher rates than could be applied with hydromulch."
